What happens during men’s health appointments?

During men’s health appointments at Northeast Medical, PC, expect the following:

Vital signs check

A team member weighs you and checks your pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs when you first arrive at a men’s health appointment.

Medical history review

During a medical history review at Northeast Medical, PC, your doctor asks about your symptoms and discusses your medical history. This includes past diagnoses, medications you’re taking, and past surgeries.

Physical exam

During a physical exam, your men’s health specialist examines your eyes, ears, throat, reflexes, abdomen, limbs, breathing, and heart rate. They also may check your genitals and offer a prostate screening.

Diagnostic testing

If you’re at risk or have symptoms of a men’s health problem, your provider might recommend diagnostic tests. Examples include urine tests, blood tests, ultrasound, or other imaging procedures.

Treatment

If you’re healthy, no treatment is needed. However, your provider may recommend you make healthy lifestyle changes or take dietary supplements to reduce your risk of men’s health problems.

If you experience unpleasant symptoms or have a medical issue, your urologist might recommend medications, hormone replacement therapy, counseling for depression, further diagnostic testing, or minimally invasive surgical procedures.

When should I schedule men’s health exams?

Schedule a men’s health exam at least once yearly. Your provider might recommend you make appointments more often if you have a chronic men’s health problem. See your doctor at the first sign of blood in the urine, urinary changes, sexual dysfunction, or other new or unusual symptoms.

Don’t let men’s health issues go undetected and untreated. Schedule a men’s health exam with Northeast Medical, PC over the phone or online today.
